FOLLOWING the recent banding together of emergency personnel who helped communities through the devastating floods, a $1.3M upgrade was recently announced as the CFA Region 22 Headquarters was formally commissioned to act as a Level Three Incident Control Centre (ICC) last week.
Originally built on the tragic events of the 2009 bushfires, the Numurkah Road, Shepparton Headquarters is a state of the art facility, which has housed many hundreds of emergency personnel over the past three years who have tended to the region’s emergency situations.
Minister for Emergency Services, Peter Ryan officially announced the upgrade to a Level Three ICC saying the facility is a window to the future.
“This ICC has the capacity to handle level three incidents which are the most complex and potentially damaging emergencies.
“The facility is a permanent base where the CFA, Department of Sustainability and Environment, Victoria Police and State Emergency Services staff operate in the event of emergencies.
“This will bring a new structure for emergency management across Victoria and will chart the future course of emergency services in our state,” Minister Ryan said.
