In a response to an adjournment matter raised by local Member for Northern Victoria, Wendy Lovell in State Parliament in September, Health Minister Jenny Mikakos has confirmed that the redevelopment of GV Health will not be completed for a minimum of 20 years.
“Services not included in Stage One of the redevelopment such as mental health, outpatients and oncology are already under stress and cannot wait 20 years for improved facilities,” said Ms Lovell.
Ms Lovell has been applying pressure to the government to release the hospital’s revised masterplan to give the community certainty surrounding the delivery of a world-class health facility.
“Jenny Mikakos has let the cat out of the bag by confirming that the redevelopment of Goulburn Valley Health will take a minimum of 20 years and will not be completed until 2035 at the earliest.” said Ms Lovell.
