The inaugural Tatura 200 Charity Bike Ride & Walk was held on Saturday, November 16 and according to all involved was an outstanding success. Championed by Tatura Milk Industries the event raised $90,000, which will be distributed to local charities and organisations in the Goulburn Valley.

A total of 322 riders and walkers participated in the event, which catered for participants at all levels of ability and fitness. Riders had a choice of completing a 200km, 100km or 50km scenic ride that took in local orchards, dairy farms, country townships, the occasional Goulburn River crossing and views of Waranga Basin.

The 25km Gears & Graze ride was the most popular, with over 130 riders cycling to Longleat Wines in Murchison for an afternoon of wine, food and live music in the beautiful vineyard setting. Those not a fan of the bike had the option of walking a 10km track in Tatura.

Tatura 200 event manager, Georgia Vibert said, “2019 marked the 12th Tatura 200 event with an accumulative total of around $1 million raised over the years. Tatura Milk Industries is proud to support the local community and provide an opportunity for participants, volunteers and community groups to work together.”

A large part of the funding this year will support the introduction of tertiary education scholarships for Tatura Milk dairy farmer suppliers and their families. Other deserving groups to receive funding included Give Me 5 For Kids, GV Trails Group, Tatura CFA and many others.
