THE time to be together is upon us and Christmas for Those Alone Inc. is once again giving members of the community, who would otherwise be seeing the festive season out alone, spend Christmas in the company of others.
Running for their 14th year and held in Monsignor Bones Hall at St Brendan’s Church on Knight Street, Shepparton from 11am to 2pm on December 25, the festive program is offered to anyone who is unable to be with family or friends on Christmas Day.
Those who attend will be treated to a two course, chef made meal, enjoy a raffle and live music in an atmosphere that provides a sense of camaraderie.
Santa will also be making a visit on the day handing out a small gift or two to most guests and lunch will be served from 11:30am.
Secretary of Christmas for Those Alone Inc, Peg Newman said, “We’ve had a really good response from the community.
“This is such a great service that involves everybody; the community as well as volunteers,” Ms Newman said.
Treasurer and Chef for Christmas for Those Alone Inc, Terri Wyatt said, “We’re really looking forward to this year’s program.
“We’ve grown from serving 50 people to 300 people in the last 14 years
“One thing that has enabled us to continue this long and be as successful as we have, are the businesses and just the average person on the street in Shepparton who make donations and are so generous.
“We couldn’t do it without the support of these people,” Ms Wyatt said.
