AFL GM on search for new umpire role

AFL Goulburn Murray has announced a brand-new position has become available within the current Administration Centre to continue to grow and develop football in the Goulburn Murray.

The regional director of umpiring will be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the AFL National Umpire Plan across the Goulburn Murray, including umpiring across Goulburn Valley Football Umpires’ Association Partner Leagues, the development of umpiring at the community level, the pathway for umpires into higher competition opportunities and other administrative or project-based duties may also be required from time to time.

AFL GM Region general manager, Jamie Macri said, “The position been created to support umpiring and work closely and have more consistency across all aspects of umpiring.

“The regional director of umpiring will provide more accessibility for clubs and boost the overall umpire numbers.

“Also, to develop the umpiring programs in all areas, coaching, performance and recruitment. Congratulations must go to the GVFUA for supporting and helping develop this new role.”
