AN INSPIRATIONAL feat is currently underway at Shepparton Access, with a group of its service clients taking on the challenge of obtaining a bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award this year.

Ivan, Lucy, Danika, Chevaun and Nathan of Shepparton Access are under the guidance of the awards program coordinator/award leader, John Canty and are undertaking a number of tasks under the sections of being active, broadening and developing skills, connecting with and servicing the local community and an adventurous journey throughout the year that will hopefully see them achieve their goals.

The group meets on Thursday each week to hold a meeting where they discuss an agenda and each person undertakes a role to plan out their next course of action and go over what they have already achieved.

John said, “This program fits in perfectly with the goals and values of Shepparton Access in helping to guide and develop the skills of our service users and it is an exciting journey to be on.

“We are well on our way to bronze and have a big task ahead of us but I am confident the team will succeed.

“Following this year, we will work on obtaining the silver award and then the prestigious gold award after that.”
