WHEN planning your wedding day, there is a lot to take into consideration and local bride, Donna Carrafa who has ‘been there and done that’ just recently, says planning ahead is the key:
Where was your ceremony and your reception held?
Our ceremony was held at a family member’s private property at Congupna and our reception was held at The Connection on the Peter Ross Edwards Causeway.
How do you feel now that you’re married?
Unfortunately, I lost my father six weeks after the wedding, so it has taken a bit of shine off our day. But we got to spend our honeymoon with my father and our photographer, Lisa Nardella was able to get all of our photos to us really quickly so my father got to see them before he passed away. We also shot a video, which he also got to see, it really made him feel a part of it all.
Out of all of your planning and ideas, what do you think worked really well?
A lot of forward planning and getting all of the big stuff done as soon as possible. Even the little bits and pieces, like our decorations, sourcing them all in the same place and keeping consistent with our suppliers made it all easier. We got everything here in Shepparton at really good prices and buying everything locally made the process very easy.
What didn’t work so well and why?
Unfortunately, we didn’t allow enough time for hair and makeup and we were running behind time. So allow plenty of time for your hair and makeup, you don’t want to be held up. Give yourself an extra hour, you are better off to be back early and waiting with a bottle of bubbly for the ceremony to start.
What advice would you give to anyone who is planning a wedding?
Watch your budget and stick to it and allow a buffer just in case.
