SEARCHING FOR HOME AWAY FROM HOME… Japanese exchange student, Fuko Sameshima is awaiting a new host family now that her former hosts are no longer able to accommodate her. Photo: Alicia Zeqir.LESS than three months into her 10-month visit, 16 -year-old Japanese exchange student, Fuko Sameshima has found herself without a host family.

Due to unforseen circumstances, Fuko’s Yarrawonga host family are no longer able to accommodate the teenager who is now temporarily staying with parents of local exchange program co-ordinator, Catherine Waite.

“Fuko is a very polite, very easy person to have,” Catherine said appealing to local families to consider hosting Fuko for the remainder of her stay.

“Being in a foreign country and needing to speak another language can be very daunting. “Fuko is handling the situation very well but we hope to find a host family for her as soon as possible.”

The youngest daughter in a family of five, Fuko enjoys interaction with children and in her home city, Kobe, was involved in running school camps.

Fuko says she also loves the outdoors, music, sports, travelling, speaking English and life in Australia.

If you would like to host Fuko, or for more information phone Southern Cross Cultural Exchange: 1800 500 501.
