ART Psychotherapy Australia, through Dr Janine Brophy-Dixon (PhD) and Carla Temple, is offering an Introduction to Art Therapy weekend workshop and a nine weekend Art Therapy Training Course in Shepparton.
The course teaches a clear, powerful method that can be applied to all therapeutic interventions and is aimed at counsellors, allied health workers, educators and welfare workers, with an aim to educate how art creates meaning and promotes healing.
Janine is an art therapist, counsellor and researcher who has worked in prisons, drug and alcohol and indigenous services. She teaches at Australian College of Applied Psychology.
Carla is an art therapist with a special education background. She has conducted programs across Australia and internationally and co-authored two books on bullying.
Janine said, “Art therapy is an essential tool for all professionals, generating change and insight to assist individuals to have a deeper understanding of themselves.”
Carla added, “Art therapy expresses what words cannot. This dynamic training will benefit those who are keen to move their professional practice forward.”
No artistic skills are required and materials, articles and meals are included.
The Introduction to Art Therapy workshop will run on February 27 and 28. It and the Art Therapy Training Course will be held at the Philippine House, Shepparton.
