MORE than 88 runners bared almost all on Sunday, donning a pair of undies for the first ever Shepparton Cupid’s Undie Run event.

Held at Victoria Park Lake, the event is in its fourth year and is the largest community fundraising event for the Children’s Tumour Foundation and on the day saw over $3,000 raised for the foundation.

There were 18 locations across the country on Sunday running the event.

Local event organiser, Danny Wynn got involved because of his son, Xavier, who was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis (NF) at just two years old. NF is an illness causes tumours to grow on the end of nerve cells and sadly, Xavier has a major tumour running from his hip right up around his spine and also has one on the brain.

Xavier’s great grandfather, Bob Williams said, “The event was fantastic. Could not have been better.

“We were hoping to get about 60 participants so to get 88 was fantastic. We are looking at doing even better next year.

“Xavier is the happiest little chap and to think he has so many problems but he just gets on with life is nothing short of amazing.

“To be able to support a charity that is close to our hearts is massive. We are so appreciative of the support from the wider community and businesses alike. It has been so heartwarming to have that.”
