Shepparton’s Summer City Market
SHOPPERS from across the region are being encouraged to come along and take advantage of huge savings across two big days this weekend, during the all new and reinvigorated 2012 Shepparton Summer City Market.
Shepparton’s CBD will be a hive of activity all day Friday 24 and Saturday 25 with traders drastically reducing prices and placing their sale stock on display throughout the CBD.
Fryers Street between Wyndham Street and Maude Street will be closed to traffic from 7am Friday 24 February and will reopen from 7pm Saturday 25 February to allow for the festivities and there will be a host of fun to be had for the whole family.
Greater Shepparton City Council Manager Economic Development, Geraldine Christou said traders have been encouraged from outside the CBD to get involved in the market.
“The Summer City Market is a fantastic opportunity for businesses based outside the CBD to showcase their products to the public.
“It is important that we attract a range of businesses to take part in the market to provide shoppers with a wide selection of shopping choices and keep them coming back.
“The event has typically been a highlight for businesses and shoppers alike and draws an influx of local shoppers as well as those from surrounding areas all looking to snap up some fantastic bargains over the two days.
“There will be entertainment including music, buskers, street performers and children’s activities which will create a fantastic family atmosphere.”
“The anticipated success of this market can be attributed to the collaborative efforts of Council, Shepparton Show Me, the Shepparton Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives from the retail sector.”
Shepparton Show Me Chair Barry Smith said Shepparton Show Me and Council have been working together with retailers to breathe new life into this successful event.
“Retailers and shoppers know the event is all about ‘bargains’ and for the event to ‘Step Up’ they concluded it needed splashes of colour, family fun and smiles.
“As a result, a new name and logo were developed. The new logo is bright, colourful and engaging and boasts the colour burst as seen in the new Show Me logo, both are designed with the festive and cheerful spirit retailers are seeking.”
