Caravan Park works in preparation for new SAM

WORK is underway on changes at the Victoria Lake Holiday Park that will ensure the caravan park is able to trade as normal during the construction of the new Shepparton Art Museum (SAM).

The entry for the park has been moved further down Fitzjohn Street with works also including the installation of a boom gate at the new entrance, a new storage and laundry facility, a new reception building and completing some refurbishment works to one of the existing amenities block within the park.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure, Phil Hoare said, “There are several works underway at the caravan park site to improve access and facilities and these are being coordinated with the commencement of works on SAM.

“We have moved the entry to the caravan park to ensure the safety of park users and to separate traffic away from the SAM work site.

“Council is working closely with the existing managers of the park to ensure the changes meet the needs of both visitors and managers.

“We are also planning to install a new caretaker’s residence to replace the old residence that is no longer of a standard suitable as a residence.

“The caravan park will be able to operate as usual; the changes we are making will assist in the long term redevelopment of the site.”
