Cats cough up their furball

After looking to get the chop from the Kyabram District Football Netball League, last minute negotiations and perhaps the influence of its new coach, football legend, Shane Crawford, an independent board granted Ardmona a new life.

Heading into their centennial year, the club has suffered, as many clubs do, the lack of financial success that seems to overwhelm many small country teams. While there are certain legal obligations such as player insurance that needs to be covered, player payments can drain the coffers of even the most well intentioned club.

“It’s going to be a massive challenge, but I would rather do it with a side that needs a lot of love than with a side near the top of the ladder, “ said Shane Crawford.

“I’ve been watching the club for the past four years. I’m not promising a win, but we’ll be doing everything we possibly can to try and make sure that happens.”

The Cats have not had a win for a couple of seasons. Perhaps with a change of fortune, 2020 will be their year.
