City awash with the spirit of squash

Competitors from all over the state, country and overseas will converge in Shepparton to compete in the International Squash Championships.

The game of squash was thought to have originated back in the 18th century. The aim of squash is to hit the rubber ball into any of the four walls in a way that your opponent cannot play a return.

The game is usually quite exciting to watch and fast-paced, featuring a mix of skill and strength.

The competition hits off this Thursday, August 15 to Sunday, August 18 at the Goulburn Valley Squash Club and is free for spectators.

Men and women will compete in the open section and there will also be a graded event for players not competing in the main draw, with finals running on Sunday from approximately 2pm. The Shepparton Squash centre is located at 83 Archer Street.
