The partnership will consist of two parts – Coles will be supporting the local delivery of Auskick development and recruitment programs, as well as being the major partner in the Shepparton District Junior Football League (SDJFL) Saturday morning Primary School competition.
“As football’s entry level program Auskick is an important first part of the participation pathway,” AFL Goulburn Murray Region General Manager Martin Gleeson said.
“This partnership will help us in our recruitment campaigns and assist our Football Development Managers with more school visits and programs to increase Auskick opportunities.”
“Coles support for our Primary School competition is very important,” SDJFL President Chris Thomas said.
“This competition is a vital stepping stone from Auskick. The competition has been in growth mode for the past couple of seasons and this year we will be adding a Gala Day at the end of the season as a grand finale to recognise all teams and celebrate the season.”
Mark O’Connor, Coles General Manager for Victoria, said, “Coles is a strong supporter of community sport and we love local footy.
Building on our existing sponsorship of the AFL, including the Coles AFL Schools and Coles AFL Indigenous programs, it is really exciting to announce a new partnership with AFL Goulburn Murray.”
“Supporting the Shepparton District Junior Football League at the grassroots is a meaningful way for us to support a great community organisation and encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyles in the region,” O’Connor added.
