Council seeking feedback on sports plan

Editor August 30, 2011

GREATER Shepparton City Council is calling on local residents seeking feedback on its draft for the Sports 2050 Strategic Plan (2050 SSP), which sets out to oversee the development of sporting facilities for the next 40 years.
Available on Council’s website and at their Welsford Street Office, the 2050 SSP is aimed at creating better sporting facilities and increase interest in sports, with all feedback supplied by local residents providing Council with a better understanding on the current local figures interested in sports.
Greater Shepparton Mayor, Geoff Dobson said the draft strategy is based on consultation with sporting clubs and associations, schools, agencies representing people who are less likely to play sport, and local residents.
“Sport 2050 is a plan for sporting growth and looks at what facilities are needed to accommodate that growth,” Cr Dobson said.
“Sport is a major part of life in our area and most of us have a connection to sport in some way or another, so I encourage the community to have their say,” he added.
All feedback will need to be supplied by 5.00pm Friday, September 9, 2011. For further information, contact Council’s Recreation and Parks Branch on 5832 9700 or email [email protected]
