SAM promised prestige, cultural reform and international acclaim. However, once it became apparent the business case did not stack up, no one could admit their mistake and take steps to contain it.
Watching SAM unfold has taken monumental will. I’ve learned how weak people can be, I’ve learned the power of pride can bring monstrous consequences and I’ve learned integrity is everything. SAM funding was taken from our collective coffers and SAM will be propped up by ratepayers for as long as its useful life allows.
If you extend me another term as your councillor, I will encourage fellow councillors to speak up and hold the Greater Shepparton City Council to account.
