ALREADY donating over $18M of sports gear to over 7,500 schools across Australia since its inception in 2010, Coles Sports for Schools 2012 is now open for registration.
With voucher collection beginning on June 13 and running until August 14, every $10 shoppers spend at Coles will see them receive a voucher that schools can exchange for free sports equipment.
To coincide with the launch of this year’s program, Coles has released national research, highlighting how the Olympics has once again brought sporting aspirations to front of mind for parents and children.
Coles Managing Director, Ian McLeod said, “Findings like these highlight the reason why grassroots programs such as Coles Sports for Schools continue to run and be embraced by communities.
“We’re delighted to be entering the third year of the initiative and with the challenge of getting our next generation of Olympians active, discovering and enjoying sporting experiences.
Former Olympic great, Cathy Freeman is again throwing her support behind the program saying getting into sports during primary school changed her life forever.
“Now, as a parent myself, it’s so encouraging to see programs like Coles Sports for Schools fostering the love of sport and making sports accessible and enjoyable for all,” Cathy said.
