PREPARATIONS for the 135th annual Shepparton Show are now being finalised and organisers are excited to announce this year’s family orientated event will be held over two big days on October 8 and 9.
Show Secretary, Julie Winch said, “Our focus for this year’s event has been to continue the traditions of the show time carnival and provide the family atmosphere which we all have such fond memories of.”
“We have a range of free family entertainment including Robinson’s Family circus, Australian Travelling Fishing show, Lumberjack Ben show, Whip Industries minibikes, Victoria Police Pipe Band and Crocstars reptile display as well as The Rural Health Unit who will be providing free health checks and Teddy Bear hospital from the Macintosh Pavilion.”
This year’s highlights also include a two day woodchop carnival, featuring Victorian Title double-hand crosscut sawing and the Australian Title for 400mm underhand, Regional State Boer goat show, Youth Cattle Show, animal nursery, dairy cattle judging, poultry show, poultry auction, cat show, dog show and miniature horses and pony judging.
The Art and Craft pavilion is bursting at the seams with a large number of exhibits in all sections and will be open on Saturday from 10am to 8pm and Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
Shepparton ShowMe fireworks display will be held on Saturday, October 8 at 8.45pm, weather permitting.
This year will also see the return of Miss Junior Showgirl and Miss Shepparton ShowMe Showgirl. Judging will be held on Saturday, October 8 in the Macintosh Pavilion from 2pm, following the Tiny-tots judging. It is not a beauty contest or talent show and entrants can register at the showground office, entries close 12pm midday Saturday, October 8.
The show is a strictly alcohol free, family event. Pre-purchased family tickets are available at a cost of $25 (family ticket) or at Showtime $30 (family ticket).
