VOTING closes this week for Victorian local council elections and voters who have not yet voted are being urged to do so before it’s too late.

There are 17 candidates standing for nine seats on the Greater Shepparton City Council, and all eligible voters should have received ballot papers in the mail.

Completed ballot papers must be posted or hand-delivered to the Shepparton election office at 207 High Street by 6pm Friday, October 23.

Election manager at the Shepparton VEC office, Mick Bastian, said on Monday he had received about 16,000 ballot papers to date, and was expecting at least another 15,000 over the next week as the flow of walk-in voters and postal votes come flooding in.

Results of the election will be announced on Friday, November 13.
