sadviser July 20, 2011

Dear Editor,
We are being constantly bombarded with Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) and Parks Victoria ‘Making Victoria Fire Ready’ advertisements.
‘Planned burning happening’, seems to be their main message.
Well there is not too much happening around this area.
In fact, there has been very little controlled burning or any other form of fuel reduction around this area since cattle were removed from Barmah Forest and State Parks in 2007, or other areas for that matter since the creation of National Parks.
Perhaps if DSE and Parks Victoria spent less money on advertisements and spin and more on actual fuel reduction we may all be a little safer this summer.
Yours sincerely,
Elizabeth Lee
