Free BBQ an opportunity to ask about the law

sadviser June 15, 2011

SHEPPARTON and district residents can find out more about the law by coming along to a free community BBQ and information booth in the Maude Street Mall in Shepparton on Thursday, May 19.

The event has been organised by Victoria Legal Aid as part of Law Week – ‘Law and justice in your community’ – and will run between 11am and 3pm.

“Our lawyers will be available to provide general legal advice and information, helping residents to understand their legal rights and obligations, and what options are available to them,” said Managing Lawyer, Ian Michaelson.

“We will also have a range of free publications about legal issues like debt, fines, family law, powers of attorney, and mental health available on the day.”

“People who are unable to come along always have the option of calling our free legal information service on 9269 0120 or 1800 677 402 (8.45 am to 5.15 pm weekdays), or to visit our website at www.legalaid.vic.gov.au,” said Mr Michaelson.

For more information about the event or the range of legal services available, call 5823 6200 (during business hours). Victoria Legal Aid is located at 36–42 High Street, Shepparton.
