The fully accredited market has become a huge success in the region, steadily growing in size and popularity and Mooroopna Farmers Market committee Chairman, Mike Tate says that as the Fruit Salad City, it is fitting that Mooroopna host such a fantastic event showcasing our locally grown produce.
“It’s a great opportunity to help save carbon miles and support our local Australian producers right here in the Goulburn Valley by purchasing fresh produce straight from the farmgate.
“At our August market on this Sunday we will also feature recipes on display so people can choose a recipe they like and then buy the ingredients needed fresh from the market ready to take home and cook. ‘Recipes on display’ are a Victorian Farmers Market initiative and it’s great fun for the home chef in all of us.”
The Mooroopna Farmers Market features music and entertainment, hot food and refreshments including quality fresh ground coffee as well as a range of fresh local produce including roasted beets with fennel oil, walnuts, radishes, figs and fig products, blue cheese, rhubarb, potatoes, hazelnuts, apples and a whole host of seasonal fruits and vegetables as well as sourdough bread, bakery products, olives, chicken, eggs and almost everything else you can imagine. Face Painting and a Jumping Castle will also be available next to the playground to keep the kids entertained while you enjoy a day at the market.
The lucky winners of the final 17, $100 prizes will also be drawn this Sunday, August 19 between 9am and 10:30am to celebrate the end of the ‘Mooroopna Money’ promotion.
So bring your big wheel trolleys, shopping bags, small change and come along this Sunday to the next fully accredited Mooroopna Farmers Market.
