While nominations are still open for the 2012 Greater Shepparton Volunteer Recognition awards, until March 30, the Greater Shepparton City Council are still seeking community input. Now with seven categories to be entered into including volunteer team, male volunteer, female volunteer, female and male youth volunteer (for people aged up to 25), rural volunteer (for towns with under 5,000 residents) and the recently added emergency volunteer of the year, there has never been a better time to nominate volunteers for their efforts.
Shepparton resident and volunteer for the Group Meals Program, Dawn Harrison said, “It’s great to be cooking for those who appreciate it so much. I love the people and really enjoy doing it.”
Nominations close Friday, March 30 with an awards presentation to be held during National Volunteer Week in May.
Nomination forms are available from council’s website, from Council’s Customer Service Counter, or by contacting Council’s Community Strengthening Officer, Michelle Latorre on 5832 9700.
