THE GV Jiu Jitsu club in Shepparton are making quite the name for themselves, having yet again seen its students come away from the Grappling Industries March 13 tournament with medals.

Student, Christian Burghartswieser finished the tournament scoring a bronze medal in the Intermediate Under 76kg category, head coach, Jason Farren also took a bronze medal but in the Advanced 86kg to 95kg category and Blake Hensen, who only recently joined GV Jiu Jitsu after moving from Canberra, came away with a silver medal in the Intermediate Under 71kg category.

Being his first tournament, student, James Davies may not have come away with a medal but he says he came away with something far more important.

“The tournament was interesting. All the hard work isn’t for nothing even if you come away with a loss because it’s all about what you learn,” James said.

Jason said, “It is good to get back and compete with the boys and I’m pretty stoked that they came home with medals.”

Christian said, “It’s great to come away with a medal. It shows the hard work and all the effort and training we put in pays off.”
