THE Goulburn Valley is famous for its trees and is known far and wide as the fruit bowl of the state.

Whether productive fruit trees or ornamental species, trees are an investment in the future, planted to last generations.

Speciality Trees of Benalla is a large-scale ornamental tree growing nursery in our region and is now expanding into commercial fruit tree production.

Established in 1977, Speciality Trees is now in the hands of Hamish and Gaby Mitchell, and the Benalla nursery is one of three production sites for the company that has about 100,000 units on the ground covering 320 ornamental varieties.

The science of growing a healthy tree that will last generations is Hamish Mitchell’s passion.

“It feels strange to say, but we are not driven by making more money or producing more units than everyone else, but more the need to make a difference through the quality of our stock with valued best-practice processes” he said.

For the next two Fridays, the nursery will be holding an open day clearance sale with a mix of bareroot trees, containerised advanced and super-advanced trees available for quick sale.

In light of COVID-19 conditions, please call ahead for an appointment on 0447 608 872 or visit the website at specialitytrees.com.au. The nursery is at 1317 Mansfield Road, Benalla.
