Helping hockey juniors achieve their potential

Photo: Alicia Zeqir.THE popularity of junior hockey will continue to grow across the state thanks to the recent pledge of support for the second consecutive year from G.J. Gardner Homes.
Managing Director at G.J. Gardner Homes, Ross Morley said, “We are delighted to be able to sponsor the Junior State Hockey Championships once again. It’s vital to encourage kids to take part in sport from a young age to ensure it stays with them and naturally becomes part of their adult lives.”    
“Hockey is a great sport that’s accessible to kids of all ages.   
“Our support of the Junior State Hockey Championships makes a great fit for our business as we have a presence across Victoria.  It’s rewarding to know that we can make a difference and play a small role to help these talented young individuals achieve their potential.”
Operations Manager at Hockey Victoria, Andrew Skillern said their relationship with G.J. Gardner had been positive for the sport, “We are pleased to have G.J. Gardner Homes supporting the Junior State Championship again in 2011.  We’re looking forward to the championships which again sees the best 640 Under 13 & 15 hockey players from across Victoria compete in the Junior State Championships.”
 The first of two sets of championships was held for Under 13’s and Under 15’s on July 6 to 10 which saw some of the state’s best junior hockey players battle it out; the second, for Under 17’s only, will be held September 24 to 26.
