FOR the past five years Shepparton Football Club Treasurer, Val Dominelli has helped coordinate the club’s Cancer Council of Victoria fundraising support efforts, each year taking part in Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea.
Herself recently diagnosed with cancer, Val says club members and affiliates have always shown generous support for the cause, helping raise around $2,500.
“Cancer is something that affects so many of us,” she said, welcoming all to attend the club’s morning tea this year.
48 other Greater Shepparton residents have registered as hosts for the event already with Cancer Council Victoria spokesperson, Barbara Fernandez welcoming more.
“We rely on the passion and energy behind each host to raise funds and help Cancer Council continue the support it provides to the 289 Greater Shepparton residents diagnosed with cancer each year as well as to their families,” she explained.
“Around 6,000 Victorians have registered to host an event but we need another 2,000 to make our fundraising target of $2.2 million a reality and help continue this ongoing support.”
While the event’s official date is Thursday 26 May, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea events may be held any day during May.
