WHEN The Adviser caught up with local husband and wife, Max and Diane Newman to talk about them each winning their category at the Mooroopna Golf Club Championships, it was a story full of coincidences.

When they took to the green on Sunday, November 18, Diane and Max didn’t know that they would not only make history by being the only husband and wife to both win at the same championship in the club’s 89 year history, but that they would also both take the win at the same hole…16.

Max who won the C Grade and Diane who won the B Grade said, “We were a bit chuffed and surprised at the win.

“The game was full of coincidences for us. Not only did we both take the win on the 16th hole but we also shot the same score on the back 9.

“It’s amazing how in that sort of game that it worked out like that.”

Max has been playing at the club for 27 years and playing golf for 40 years.

Diane has been playing golf for 15 years at the club and will take on the Pro-Am on December 9.
