THE decades successful Kialla Lakes Estate received well deserved recognition recently, when it came runner up for the Urban Development Institute of Australia, Victorian Branch (UDIA) Award of Excellence in Victoria.

At a function at the Palladium in Crown Casino attended by over 1,000 members of the development industry the judges gave a special commendation in the category of Residential Development to Kavant Nominees Pty Ltd as the developer of Kialla Lakes Estate for the quality and amenity of the Estate which includes the three lakes, playgrounds and parks, about 12 km of walking and cycling paths and an attractive large retention basin to cope with any future rain event.

Kavant Nominees Pty Ltd chairman, David Fordyce has expressed his delight that Kialla Lakes Estate has been awarded.

“Each year UDIA appoints judges to inspect the quality of the various forms of land and building development in Victoria. This includes everything from high-rise developments to community and ecological developments,” David said.

“This is the second time Kialla Lakes Estate has won an award, having previously won a state award for a master-planned development. The estate has attracted home builders, shops, a retirement village, a medical centre, a child-minding business (which is shortly to be built) and a school has been built on adjoining land.

“At present, over 1,300 lots have been sold and further developments are taking place. Mr Fordyce said that the judges’ award gave the board a lot of satisfaction and was also a recognition of the valuable work of the board’s consultants, Chris Smith & Associates.”
