A STRONG school leadership team has been appointed to ensure that Greater Shepparton College (interim name) focuses on excellence in teaching and learning from day one.

The college’s newly appointed principals bring passion and extensive educational leadership experience to their roles. They all have local knowledge and a commitment to providing high-quality educational outcomes for every young person in Greater Shepparton.

The appointed positions are John Sciacca (principal, McGuire Campus), Stephen Bolton (principal, Mooroopna Campus), Ken Murray (principal, Wanganui Park Campus), and Megan Michalaidis (assistant principal, teaching and learning).

Mr Murray said, “Our initial focus will be on improving student attendance and retention rates, engagement in learning, literacy and numeracy skills, and increasing subject choices in our new school.”

The leadership team will be led by executive principal, Genevieve Simson. She spent nine years as principal of Victoria University Secondary College, but has also previously taught at Mooroopna Secondary College and McGuire College.

Ms Simson’s leadership experience at Victoria University Secondary College inspired her to lead the new college in Shepparton. She witnessed improved student outcomes at Victoria University Secondary College and strongly believes the new Greater Shepparton College (interim name) will offer huge benefits for students and teachers.

Ms Simson said, “Students will have access to the broadest range of subjects, dedicated health and wellbeing teams and supports, and increased training opportunities and education pathways.”
