LAST Thursday night, approximately 230 people from the region gathered to celebrate the contributions of all who identify as women in our community for the 2019 International Women’s Day event.

Organised by The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee, the evening utilised spoken word, music and dance to recognise the passion, strength and leadership of local women of all ages. Guest speakers spoke of the intersectional experience of being a woman, and how that affects their role in the home, workplace and community.

The global theme for International Women’s Day in 2019 is #BalanceforBetter – a call to action for driving gender balance across the world. Speakers described examples of what positive changes have already been made toward creating a more balanced world, as well as their vision for future progress towards gender equality.

The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee would like to congratulate Jeihan Elmaz for winning the 2019 GSWCAC award and also extend congratulations to all the nominees.

Nedal Kebabs provided catering for the evening’s event, with sweet treats provided by One Sweet Baker.

The GSWCAAC would like to thank everyone involved, including guest speakers Christina Vithoulkas and Dr Remi Kehinde.
