Murals to cover unwanted mess

TWO new murals are set to emerge in the streets of Shepparton as the announcement comes for a Coalition Government grant to prevent unwanted graffiti.
As part of the ‘Your Community, Your Say’ program the $19,000 grant will see local artists use their skills to create masterpieces based on the chosen entries into a community design competition.
Member for Northern Victoria Region, Wendy Lovell said the murals would give local artists a platform to publicly create and display their work.
“I encourage anyone who wants to create public art to get involved in the creation of these murals.
“The Coalition Government is providing $300,000 to local councils across Victoria to ramp up the battle against graffiti,” Ms Lovell said.
In addition to the grants announced through the ‘Your Community, Your Say’ program, the Coalition Government is funding the Graffiti Removal Program, which will see 48 teams of offenders remove 270,000 square metres of graffiti this financial year.
