Local vineyard wins share of $2 million fund

IN A BID to support northern Victoria’s wine industry, increase visitor numbers, boost exports and support local jobs, the federal government initiated a grants program called The Wine Growth Fund, to support the growth of wineries in the area.

Closing in October 2018, the winners of the third round were last week announced, with local growers, Broken River Vineyard being awarded a $9,000 share of the $2 million allocated in the third round of the Government’s Wine Growth Fund, which will support 78 projects at wineries across Victoria.

With a focus on the export market the grant will help Broken River Vineyard to break into the rapidly growing Indian wine market, as well as localised marketing and customer engagement.

The fund is expected to provide a boost of around $12 million to the wine industry across the state with projects including cellar doors, kitchen and café upgrades, wine production facility developments, e-commerce programs, accommodation initiatives and vineyard improvement works.
