The Leukaemia Foundation would like to thank the members of the Goulburn Valley for participating in and donating to the World’s Greatest Shave in 2011. The generosity of Victorians never ceases to amaze us, particularly amongst the many natural disasters that have occurred, people still continue to give. Over $2.6 million has been raised in Victoria, which will go toward the Leukaemia Foundation’s Vision to Cure and Mission to Care.
As the Leukaemia Foundation receives no government funding, we are reliant on the donations of generous individuals and corporations and campaigns such as the World’s Greatest Shave.
In Victoria alone, 2,500 people are expected to be diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or a related blood disorder and blood cancer is still Australia’s second biggest cancer killer.
The money raised will enable the Leukaemia Foundation to continue to provide essential support services such as accommodation for regional Victorians needing to relocate to Melbourne for treatment, transport to and from hospital, education, information and practical support. These support services are provided free of charge to Victorian families.
The Leukaemia Foundation also funds cutting-edge research into the causes, treatments and cures for blood cancer.
Thank you for supporting the Leukaemia Foundation World’s Greatest Shave 2011– we are in awe of your generosity and could not have done it without you.
