MEAT & Livestock Australia Chairman, Don Heatley has announced Scott Hansen as the new Managing Director.
Mr Hansen joined MLA in 2004 as the company’s Communications Manager, soon becoming General Manager for Industry Affairs and Communication. In 2007 he became MLA’s General Manager Communications and Livestock Exports, before moving to Washington in 2009 to head up the company’s beef, lamb and goat marketing efforts in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Mr Heatley said that Mr Hansen’s experience in a range of roles in the Australian red meat industry would bring a depth of industry knowledge, vision and passion to the position.
“Scott has spent the last 15 years in executive roles providing services to the Australian red meat and livestock industry – a career that has kept him close to his rural origins,” Mr Heatley said.
“As well as his experience over seven years with MLA, previous roles as executive director of the Victorian Farmers Federation Pastoral Group and of the Sheepmeat Council of Australia have equipped Scott with a valuable perspective of both producer and industry interests.”
“I have no doubt that Scott will take on this important role with great energy and commitment to drive MLA to continue to deliver the best possible services to our industry.”
Mr Hansen said it was an honour to be selected as MLA’s new Managing Director and outlined his motivation to drive the industry’s service company to deliver benefits to producers.
“I look forward to working with the MLA Board, the dedicated team at MLA and our industry and Government partners to continue achieving these outcomes on behalf of our stakeholders.”
Current MLA Managing Director David Palmer congratulated Mr Hansen on his appointment and will continue in the role until Mr Hansen assumes the position.
