“IT’S never too late to give something a go,” says Mooroopna’s 36-year-old Tim Kuiper after being recently named Northern Melbourne Institute of Technology First Year Apprentice of the Year.
One of six Mooroopna Golf Club greenkeeping staff, Kuiper won the award after completing the first year of his four-year Certificate III in Horticulture (Turf) and apprenticeship.
“It’s something I always wanted to,” said the former labourer, salesperson and manager.
“I’d done a bit of everything and decided I should give something a go that I would really enjoy.”
The married father-of-three’s only regret is that he didn’t do it sooner.
“I love it,” he said.
Kuiper was presented with the award at the institute’s awards presentation dinner in May.
