More accountability and transparency in Council

A BROAD-BASED career and learning history have brought Andrew Bock to the steps of embarking on a political career.

Mr Bock wants to increase transparency in Greater Shepparton City Council decisions, to understand why decisions are made and where the ratepayer money is going.

Reducing rates is at the top of his interests but he is looking at more social issues that fall within the Council’s capabilities, issues such as investing in the community by funding mental health and first aid training in our sporting and other social clubs. If successful, he wants similar programs relating to drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence and suicide prevention to follow.

Social media is an opportunity for the community to have their say on Council deliberations before they are decided by the councillors.

Mr Bock also would like to see an increase in our tourist capabilities while looking at the ways Council can become more self-sustaining.

Council elections will take place by mail next month.
