Horse racing is quickly becoming a characteristic of Nagambie with the statue to the great Black Caviar in the main street. By way of paying credit to the breeders of these fine animals, Zephyrz Bar and Restaurant in Nagambie recently opened a unique Champions Bar, showcasing all the thoroughbred group 1 winners that were bred locally.

Brett and Carol Wakelan who operate this old pub in the main street of Nagambie are very passionate about the racing and horse breeding industry. Together with support from Adam Sangster, the owner of Swettenham Stud, a mural and a ‘Wall of Champions’ has been painted inside the old timbered bar that is lined with memorabilia.

With racing greats such as Black Caviar, Winx, Better Loosen Up, Sadlers Wells and even Phar Lap, the mural is set to a racing scene that jumps out at you when you enter, along  with paintings of all the group 1 winners from the region.
