SHEPPARTON Brass Band is calling for new members, with or without experience, and new sponsors to support performances by the not-for-profit group of 25.
“We have ambitious plans for our future,” says band secretary, Allan Thomson.
“We would like to be able to perform more frequently so that we can be more involved with our local community. To achieve this we’re in need of support.”
The band is now inviting locals to join to help further the group’s efforts to support local fundraisers and events that include Relay for Life, ANZAC Day celebrations, Shepparton Agricultural Society Show and Carols by Candlelight.
“We are particularly in need of percussionists and extra players for our other instruments,” Mr Thomson said.
“Membership is a very affordable way for people to learn an instrument. You borrow the instrument that you play and there are no tuition fees, it’s wonderful.”
“We would also like to devote more time to providing brass workshops for young people in the community and to work with other local brass bands. Sponsorship would help us do that.”
The band has recently formed a range of fundraising packages to attract sponsorship.
To sponsor the band or for more information phone Mr Thomson: 0402 284 797 or email: [email protected]
Donations are tax deductible.
Shepparton Brass Band rehearse Wednesdays from 7.30 – 9.30pm at Shepparton Sound Shell, Welsford Street Shepparton.
