New coaching curriculum for junior footy

Shepparton Toyota District Junior Football League coaches will take part in a new junior coaching curriculum next month with AFL state coaching director Rick Coburn.

Coburn, a former Bendigo Pioneers coach, will present the new curriculum workshop to junior coaches of STDJFL in the lead-up to this season.

The new curriculum will provide coaches additional tools to deliver a fun, safe, inclusive learning environment at AFLGM delegates room in Kialla on Wednesday, April 8.

League president Mark Lambourn said that this new curriculum workshop will be the first rolled out to country regions and an incredible opportunity for coaches in the STDJFL to learn the new and innovative coaching streams.

“The workshops will assist coaches to acquire points towards their coaching accreditation but more importantly it will equip them with how to vary the training and to develop important skills while still keeping players engaged and having fun,’’ he said.

The workshop with Rick Coburn will run on Wednesday, April 8 at 6.30pm.
