Nominations sought for community leaders

If you or someone you know is passionate about doing the best for the local community, Greater Shepparton City Council is calling on nominations for the Greater Shepparton Disability Advisory Committee.

The committee represents people from a broad range of backgrounds and provides advice and assistance for a range of council activities, including ways to promote access and inclusion in Greater Shepparton.

The committee consists of people with disabilities, industry service providers and a nominated councillor. Council staff members provide administration support for the committee.

Currently there is one community representative position and one service provider position available on the committee.

Greater Shepparton City Council director community, Kaye Thomson said, “This is a great opportunity for people to actively contribute positive changes relating to disability in our community.

“Committee members will be elected for a nine month term, with the committee meetings occurring monthly (excluding January).

“The committee advises council on issues people with a disability and their carers face in the community. Council and the Disability Advisory Committee are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive community for all.”

Nominations for appointment to the community will be received until 5pm on Friday, September 20. Nomination forms and more information can be found online via www.greatershepparton.com.au or in person at council offices. Verbal nominations can also be made by contacting 5832 9700.
