WHEN accepting the award for ‘Best Match Day Commentary 2015’ on behalf of ONE FM during the AFL Media Awards recently, there was so much more Commentator, Jason Welsh wanted to say.
Jason said, “It’s pretty rare that I’m lost for words but at the awards, in the heat of the moment and being overcome with pride, shock and excitement all at once, I’m not sure I was able to fully express how absolutely grateful and humbly honoured I was to accept the award on behalf of my team.
“Winning this prestigious award means so much to our organisation and all of our key stakeholders who on a weekly basis make the broadcasts happen.
“So much hard work goes into this project each year and with limited resources, it really is a testament to our people who produce such a high standard product.”
“It’s been such a long journey from where it began with a lot of time, hard work and sacrifices made along the way by many people.
“I want to thank Kyle Power, Anthony Tricarico, Michael Van Dorsser, Chris Theboss Ross, Gareth Sharp, Gary Harvey, Sidney Aspland, Robert Rickard, Tony Mac and especially Adam Watkins our technical director, who put so much into each and every broadcast that goes to air.
“A special mention needs to go to Greg Sharp. What a bloke. It’s rare in this world to find a person who is so separated from ego, no fuss and just rocks up week in week out when required with the warmth and enthusiasm that you do. I look up to you with so much respect and am eternally grateful for all that you have contributed.”
