THERE is nothing that compares to a month of great local wine, coupled with exceptional, fine food and live entertainment, to set the mood for Aussie Wine Month. Throughout the month of May, the Greater Valley’s best wineries, restaurateurs and cellar doors and will be offering just that, in celebration of Australian wine during Aussie Wine Month.
This year though, the third annual celebration’s events will be complemented by 18 restaurants, local pubs and cafés who will be joining the 11 wineries and cellar doors to bring the best of the region to the people of the region.
Kicking off on May 1, the whole region will come alive with food, wine and music including cellar tours, music events, long lunches and vintage barrel tastings with winemakers.
Goulburn Valley Wine Association President, Guido Vazzoler said, “We know that the Goulburn Valley produces a diversity of great wine and we’re now backing it up with great events to complete those wines.
“As well as the wineries we also have quite a few local restaurants, pubs and cafés participating this year, which is the first time in the event’s three year history.
“This is a really good opportunity for wineries to offer something different and also to tie that experience in with great wine.
“We are also running a competition, which will see five lucky people take home a case of the region’s best wines. To enter, simply pick up a ‘passport’ from any of the participating wineries during Aussie Wine Month, get it stamped five times and you go in the draw.
“It’s good fun and we encourage the community to get out and to enjoy the experience and some of the best the region has to offer.”
