ROY Hill Power in Shepparton have set their sights on supporting the regions wealth of Motocross talent, with the introduction of their first ever racing team consisting of eight local competitive riders.
Proprietors, Graeme and Karyn Evans said their reason for taking up the sponsorship commitment was a simple one, “for the love of the sport”.
“Our boys are into Motocross, we’re into it, it’s good for business and most importantly it’s good for the sport itself.”
Graeme said, “I’ve always wanted to do this and since beginning the business, these boys have continually supported us and now, we’re simply supporting them back.”
The sponsorship offers assistance to help not only financially, but motivationally as well. “It’s an expensive sport and it’s good to be able to assist them.”
Through Roy Hill Power and Yamaha the team were given the opportunity to apply for a ‘race plan’ which entitles them to special discounts on parts and accessories for approved members.
Graeme said he would encourage anyone with a serious interest in the sport to apply. “Anyone can apply for a race plan and we’ll forward them on with our recommendations. Becoming a part of the sponsorship team is about more than just riding, it’s about a holistic involvement in the sport.”
“Yamaha is all about family.”
The Roy Hill Power Racing Team race all over the northern region of Victoria, the most recent competition being the Victorian State Titles, which were held at Rosebud, in which ‘gun’ recruit, Jeremy Tindal placed 3rd.
“All of these kids are taking steps on their way to the Aussie titles in October 2011 in Murray Bridge. They’re a great group of kids.”
“We always get a buzz out of seeing the team all done up in the sponsorship gear. It’s a very proud moment to see the guys go out and put in so much effort. The team spirit is unbelievable between kids as well as parents, it’s wonderful to see.”
“In the future we’ll continue to expand on the team and to develop the varied age groups and levels and to instil a team spirit in what can be an individual sport.”
