FONTERRA has stolen the show at the 2011 Dairy Industry Association of Australia (DIAA) Australian Dairy Product Awards, receiving an impressive seven trophies, ten gold and 36 silver awards.
Fonterra’s Echuca manufacturing site won three awards for its yoghurt products, with Fonterra’s Nestlé Ski D’lite taking the grand prize of the Cryovac Australia Award for the highest scoring flavoured low fat yoghurt.
Fonterra’s Stanhope manufacturing site also won five awards for its cheddar cheese products.
Fonterra Site Manager for Echuca, Liam Cotter says these Awards recognise the consistently high quality yoghurt products manufactured at the site.
“These Awards are an excellent achievement for all of our employees,” he said. “We’re very proud of our products and we’re thrilled Nestlé Ski D’lite in particular has been recognised with the Cryovac Australia Award and two gold awards.
“We have recently executed a $21 million expansion project to move the production of all Nestle Ski products to the Echuca site. This award demonstrates the benefit of being able to make the product ourselves.”

Chris Diaz, Fonterra Site Manager, Stanhope says he is also happy with the results and the quality of the cheese from the site, in particular Perfect Italiano which took out the gold award.
“Thanks must also go to our milk suppliers who consistently provide us with the high quality milk essential to the production of these great products,” says Mr Diaz.
