OLDER generations are encouraged to get their community planning skills in order, as applications for the 2019 Greater Shepparton Seniors Festival Grants open on Friday, April 12.

This limited funding is intended to support a range of activities and events that and it’s hoped the grants will encourage seniors to participate in physical activities or to attend social events or functions.

Funding support is available for community-wide projects that provide activities and outcomes accessible to the whole community, or individual projects that provide activities and outcomes for specific community groups and individuals.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe is encouraging residents to apply.

“There are plenty of groups around our municipality already doing this to a brilliant level and we encourage them, as well as new groups or people with new ideas, to apply for some financial support,” Cr O’Keeffe said.

Funding is provided on a one-off basis to a maximum of $500 per grant. Groups and individuals making applications are encouraged to apply for funding prior to the detailed planning of their proposed project commencing. Applications and groups must be based in Greater Shepparton and operating not-for-profit and proposed projects should be able to demonstrate broad community benefit.
