AS staggering figures emerge showing that one in six Victorians aged over 15 years does not participate in any physical activity and 23 percent of Victorian secondary school students are considered overweight or obese, the Minister for Sport and Recreation, Hugh Delahunty is urging all Shepparton locals to get active.
By signing up to the Premier’s Active Families Challenge where individuals and families across the state can take part in 30 minutes of physical activity for 30 days over a six week period from March 19 to April 30, providing an opportunity to spend quality time as a family while developing healthy exercise habits for the long-term.
“I’m inviting all Shepparton locals to take up the Challenge to increase their level of physical activity. It’s a great way to improve your health and wellbeing, while spending quality time with friends and family,” Mr Delahunty said.
Registrations are now open until April 1.
The Challenge is free to join and offers great prizes to those who participate, including passes to local YMCA’s and Rebel Sport vouchers. For more information and to register for the Premier’s Active Families Challenge visit www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/challenge.
