Shepparton’s Melbourne Country Week squad announced

CRICKET Shepparton has announced its Melbourne Country Week (MCW) Squad for the 2019 carnival that is set to kick off this coming Monday with the team facing Ballarat Cricket Association.

The squad this year is lead by Mooroopna batsman, Will Hale who is in his first year of organising the squad as a co-director of Representative Cricket along with Old Students opening batsman, Nick Breslin.

The squad consists of captain, Will Hale, wicketkeeper, Luke Nolan, Joel Brett, Michael Eckard, Sam Kershaw, Scott Richardson, Brendan Scott, Roman Walker, vice-captain, Dwain Vidler, Sam Nash, Corey Hickford, Michael Archer, Mitch McGrath, Jayden Armstrong, Nick Breslin and Dylan Grandell.

“The aim this year is to return to the provincial grade after coming ever so close last year,” Hale said.

Eight players, join seven seasoned MCW veterans in the week from February 18 to 22 at various venues around Melbourne.

“It has been a great reward to a number of players that have worked really hard throughout the season thus far,” Hale said.

“We really have a good blend of experience and youth, both locally and down at Melbourne.”

Cricket Shepparton will play Ballarat, Latrobe Valley and Leongatha and District Associations on the first three days of competition in the green side of the competition before playing a cross over match with the gold side of the competition, potentially setting up a showdown with either Goulburn Murray Cricket or Murray Valley Cricket, on the Thursday, before the final on Friday.
