SHEPPARTON South Football Club celebrated its fortieth anniversary last weekend honouring coaching and player club heroes past and present.
Following celebrations at a Goulburn Valley Hotel gala dinner, life member and former Shepparton South coach, Frank Scarcella said the milestone was a proud moment in the club’s history.
“The club has really grown into such a great community of its own, not only for the football, but it has a fantastic social atmosphere as well,” he said.
“It has come a long way from when it first started out with one seniors team. Now it has seven teams and has contributed to the growth of the world game at a local level.”
With its home at McEwen Reserve, the team that bears black and white stripes has won the last four Goulburn North East Football Association premierships and is now aiming to continue support of its junior players.
